These beautiful Straw Milliners Needles are my absolute favourite needle of choice for all English Paper Piecing (EPP), Needleturn Applique & hand sewing of your quilt bindings by hand.

The Sue Daley Designs Milliners needles are beautiful to use and are of EXCELLENT QUALITY.

They are long & fine with a gold eye - which means it has a 'longer' eye area, which makes it easier to thread.

The needles are perfect for everyone but are especially good if you suffer from arthritis, carpal tunnel or even if you have long fingernails.

Because they are long there is no need to grip them as tightly... therefore eliminating any pain in your hand & wrist area that you may experience. Let the lovely long needle-shaft do all the 'bending' work for you ♡

(so when it does actually create that 'bend' in the needle,  it means you are using your needle correctly... and doing the Needleturn stitch correctly). ✔️ (so,  you'll find that your lovely fine (but strong) Milliners Needle WILL start to create a curve in it over time... that's because you're stitch is like a "fishing hook" motion 🎣  ... when you are doing it correctly... and the way you hold your thumb on it will ease the needle into a lovely gentle curve, when you are doing the motion of this beautiful invisible stitch correctly. 😊👏👏👏 So, DON'T throw your needle out IF it develops a gentle curve over time,... it's actually a good thing!!! ♥️👌 ha ha

Choosing the Size Needle that best suits you...

* A VERY USEFUL TIP TO REMEMBER....

The numbers in the haberdashery system are OPPOSITE to our counting system...

Therefore...

The Smaller number in our counting system actually equals the larger needle in the packet etc.  (Read that again!!!)

(Therefore, the larger the size, ... the finer the needle is).

Sue Daley Milliners Needles come in a number of sizes to suit ALL EYESIGHTS!! ❤

Size 11 & 15 are usually the two most popular sizes for English Paper Piecing and Needleturn applique.

I usually recommend a size 11 Straw Milliners Needle as your first choice (& great starting point...) if you can see really well... and can thread the needle fine...(with a lovely fine thread).

Then a size 10... if you need a little bit more space to thread your needle...

and then a size 9 ... if you wear glasses to do your fine handwork.

The size 15 needles are even longer than the rest... and are our second most popular size to use... because of their extra length ... they are especially useful for helping reduce any pain in your wrist from Carpel tunnel,  rsi or hand issues. ♡  * Let the beautiful long needles do all the 'bending' work for you.

Team these beautiful Straw Milliners Needles with our Silk Thread for the ultimate combination for all your fabric to fabric sewing needs... being done by hand. *(When used together it will feel like using soft butter,... it will just glide smooth & effortlessly through your fabric).

For those who like all the Technical details-

SUE DALEY NEEDLES

MILLINERS SIZE 9 - Used for EPP

42.5mm. The Largest of the eye's, great for those needing help when threading the needle.

Milliners  Size 10 - Used for EPP

40.5mm. A Larger gold eye. (Considered the 'medium' Needle size to get...if you're not sure what size you need).

Milliners Size 11 - Used for EPP

39mm.  THE Top selling size for English Paper Piecing and Needle-turn applique. Beautiful gold eye. A really beautiful size needle to use.  *(IF you can see well enough to thread this size needle,... it is the ideal first/best choice of size to use/ aim for...)

Of course, there's no point buying a really fine needle... and then trying to put a thick thread in it. It's just not going to work!!!

Make sure to team these Needles with a Fine Silk Thread,  to get the best advantage of these beautiful Needles.

Milliners Size 15 - Used for EPP

48.5mm.  This is the longest needle in the range, beautiful for EPP and Needleturn Applique.

This LONGER NEEDLE is great for those with long fingernails, arthritis, carpal tunnel or any other pain related hand issues.  (The long shaft of the Needle takes the 'bend' ... instead of the hand,  helping to illuminate any strain and pain on your wrist etc).

**Size 11 & Size 15 are the two most popular Needle sizes used. ** I personally recommend you try a Size 11 first,  if you have good eyesight.

However, if you wear glasses and have any issues threading a very fine needle, and would prefer a larger eye, I would recommend either the size 10 or 9.

They are fantastic for using on any sewing of fabric to fabric by hand.

Whether it be for English Paper Piecing (Epp),  Needleturn Appliqué or sewing your bindings on by hand... these are the beautiful needles that I use most, and highly recommend.

A Straw Milliners Needle has a long thin shaft, being the same all the way along the needle shaft - and they DO NOT taper out wider at the end.  (The gold eye is a longer 'eye slit' to help give you a line'space' to thread it).

They are lovely and fine all the way along making them the ideal choice for our delicate needlework...🥰😘

Each size is sold seperately, and comes in a little 'vial' container - as a pack of 10 needles.

When you use a beautiful Silk Thread (combined with a fine gold eye Milliners Straw Needle - preferably Size 11, 10 or 9), your needle and thread will just glide through the fabric easily ...like smooth butter... making EPP or Needleturn a breeze!!

Thank you.

These are gorgeous needles to use.

Happy Stitching,

Debbie 🌷

***and don't forget to team them with some of our beautiful Silk Threads for great results. 👏
