Either way, YOU get to choose whether to make the blocks in order (as a skill-building exercise), or whether to swap between the different techniques of patchwork, EPP & Applique ... giving lots of variety (and keeping you interested along the way)... OR swap to your hearts content between the different techniques as you go along. *(I personally, like to have a little bit of each on-the-go at any one time... so that I can play with whatever technique takes my fancy at that time). Sometimes it will be machine piecing, sometimes the slow methodical handwork of EPP... and sometimes beautiful applique. (Having the different techniques all being taught step by step in this lovely Sampler Book... makes it great for letting you choose what you fancy at that time!!) Each block builds on skills from the previous ones.

(As a very passionate, 1 woman small business, I am extremely proud to have been able to work to get myself into a position of being able to offer such a beautiful selection of 100 different LUXURIOUS Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics to you). I hope you will appreciate that these are the world famous Liberty of London TANA LAWN fabrics...(that are all still 100% Cotton) but they come from the finest, unique long staple cotton fibres (originally from Lake Tana, ...hence the famous Liberty Tana Lawn name). This same super high-quality long staple cotton is still being used in the making of this beautiful fabric today, and is printed with the iconic Liberty designs in their own Liberty Mill in Italy... near beautiful Lake Como, Italy.
If you've never used it before, the Tana Lawn has a subtle lustre to it and a beautiful soft, silky-like feel to it. It is gorgeous to work with. Because of its exceptional quality and feel, it is just as well suited to beautiful Patchwork and Embroidery projects, as it is to EPP and appliqué,...as it is to the making of beautiful blouses, summer dresses and luxury pyjamas, night gowns, sleepwear etc. It is so versatile... and I love using it with our Linens and Low Volumes. This quilt is the perfect opportunity to enjoy creating with this luxurious Liberty fabric.

- 100 different beautiful 'Coloured' Liberty Tana Lawn Fabrics
A specially curated selection of beautiful Liberty Tana Lawn Fabrics specially put together for this beautiful Sampler Quilt for you.
100 Different 'coloured' Liberty fabrics (with 130 pieces of luxury Tana Lawn fabrics supplied in total)...(this allows for use of 100 of the 'pieces' to be used within the construction of the main blocks AND the extra 30 'pieces' are available to use in the beautiful border too... ensuring some of your 'special ones' are used within the Quilt AND the remainder in the complementary border designs too). It gives a beautiful balanced look to this particular design. This is all well explained in the book.
These gorgeous LibertyTana Lawn Fabrics are specially chosen to cover the full rainbow of colours with prints in different sizes/scale, colours and tones... to give you a look very similar to the original design. *(I have taken special care to select a variety of beautiful Liberty prints and colours that will both 'contrast & complement' to give a beautiful look to each block made). Particular focus has been paid to providing you with many small and medium sized prints... so that they fully show up well in the piecing blocks. (Ie. If you used a larger scale print in many of the piecing blocks... you would find that you would 'lose' the design of a 9 patch etc... as different colours 'may' fall into different sections - throwing out the completed look of the blocks.) You don't have to worry about things like this, as I have paid particular attention to the fabrics I have chosen for you, for this beautiful quilt, to ensure GREAT RESULTS FOR YOU!! 🤗
*(This option 1 provides you with all the COLOURED FABRICS in luxurious Liberty Tana Lawns to complete the QUILT TOP).It does not provide you with the white (or off- white) Quilt background fabric. All patchwork, EPP and raw edge applique templates are provided TRUE TO SCALE WITHIN THE PAGES OF THE BOOK.
Again, Option 2 (as per Option 1), provides you with all the COLOURED FABRICS in luxurious Liberty Tana Lawns to complete the QUILT TOP). It does not provide you with the white (or off- white) Quilt background fabric. This is available to purchase seperately IF you would like to do so now.
BACKGROUND FABRIC CHOICES -
For the plain white background fabric required in making the blocks and the quilt borders (identified as W - for 'white' in the books piecing diagrams) ... the original Quilt has a high quality 100% cotton, quilting weight fabric used. It was actually chosen as an off-white shade by Alice, (the designer) for its timeless appeal... and for how well it matches in with the Liberty backgrounds.
Whatever 'shade' you choose to use, you will need 6 metres of BACKGROUND FABRIC (112cm wide)... (or 6.5 yards of same).
** I have chosen 3 different beautiful options for you to choose between for the background fabric, ... IF you would like help choosing your beautiful background at the same time (ie.now). Depending on the look YOU would like to achieve, I believe each of these background options will look beautiful... and allows you to make your quilt individual to suit YOU!
Each will look sooo beautiful!!
The choices are -
- 6 Metres of white LOW VOLUME FABRIC, a lovely Devonstone Selfies "Floral" .. this Low Volume fabric is very 'tonal',... So, eventhough it has a lovely tonal 'flower' print on it, - it is a 'tone on tone'... so it will give a very subtle 'flower print', but will still be a lovely FRESH WHITE LOOK TO YOUR QUILT. 🌸This option will look great for those who like a fresher white look to their quilt... and it will make the 'colours' in the Liberty Tana Lawns pop a little more!! 🎉
- 6 Metres of "various different" white & slightly off-white Selfies Low Volume Fabrics (ie. 6 x different 1 metre pieces of lovely Low Volume Fabrics)...this option is for those who love a slightly more 'scrappier' look to their beautiful backgrounds in their quilt. This will be lovely too...🤗 *(I have included a photo of 3 of the 6 low volume backgrounds that will be included in this Option. *You will receive 1 Metre of the same lovely Low Volume 'floral' as per Option 1 above,... as well as 1 Metre of the photographed 'Spot' low volume fabric, and 1 metre of the photographed white/off white 'paisley' low volume fabric. (Because of their low volume, tone-on-tone nature they are very hard to photograph well). You'll see that I've shown them under lights... and on my dark navy couch background... just so as you can really get a feel for the lovely prints in them. All are very subtle... and go with the Liberties so beautifully. (A total of 6 different 1 metre pieces will be provided in this option). All coordinate beautifully.
- 6 Metres of cream - Quality Quilters Cotton This is a beautiful, high-quality Quilters Cotton in a lovely soft cream/ecru colour. (It has a lovely 'warm' look to it... and works well with all the background colours in the Liberty Tana Lawns). Very pretty. For those who LOVE A LITTLE MORE WARMTH to their look. So Beautiful!!! 🤗😘
**No matter which one you choose, ALL WILL LOOK ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL... and have been chosen for how well they will offset the beautiful Liberty Tana Lawn Fabrics. Each of the (3) background fabric options are very well priced. (The first two options are being done at $25 Aud per metre, and the third option - the lovely cream QUALITY QUILTERS COTTON is extremely good value at $16 Aud per metre. (Purchased New Stock colour). No matter which one you choose, I'm sure they will look beautiful with the gorgeous Liberties.
**You will need a total of 6 metres (at 112cm wide) of the background fabrics. (And yes, 6 metres may seem like a large quantity of background fabric to purchase, but anyone who's ever done a "Dear Jane" or other similiar Sampler type quilts... knows that with LOTS of fabric cuts, half square triangles etc, etc... it DOES use-up a lot of fabric to make all the blocks for these type of quilts.. *(All fabric measurements and quantities have been supplied by the original designer of this gorgeous Quilt).
**And don't forget to save all your scraps of Liberties as you go along, as they look beautiful in so many projects!! *(I can offer some lovely free options/ suggestions for these throughout the year 🤗).
BINDING FABRIC CHOICES AND REQUIREMENTS (and final Quilt measurements).
The final measurement of this quilt (being made as is) is 80" x 80" (203cm x 203cm). This is a Double bed (Queen) sized Quilt.
As such, I recommend a purchase of 60cm of beautiful binding fabric for this quilt. This time, I have selected a number of lovely options for you... just to give you an idea of some beautiful Liberty Tana Lawns that would look beautiful as the 'frame' on this quilt. **I have specifically picked some beautiful BINDING OPTIONS that will hopefully cater for everyone's taste 😊 . There's a gorgeous PINK, REDS, PURPLES, BLUES, SALMON/PEACH/PINK and a beatiful multi FLORAL RAINBOW one too.
Careful consideration has also been given to the binding options chosen, so that they give a gorgeous final frame to your quilt. I love ALL of the beautiful binding options I've given,... and I hope that you find something you really love in amongst them too 😘 (This is another great way in how you can tailor this beautiful quilt to YOUR own personal style) 👏👏👏
